Type: Volks (old) F08 head, Volks SD13 medium bust body She appeared on All Hallows' Eve. We don't know why or where from, but she was so strange and beautiful that we kept her. At first, she was very quiet, but soon she began to ask us for gifts. Pretty things, like little bits of ribbon and shiny stones. She was so sweet we could hardly refuse her. She asked for more things... a feather from a raven, black ink, a doll. Then one day she asked for a pet. A special kind of pet. A little boy. From that day on, Daniel was hers. She's never without him, she carries him all day and they whisper to each other often, though Daniel has never spoken a word to us. Mina also takes it upon herself to keep her eye on all of the others and flitters about, making friends with each of them in turn, then moving on to something else almost immediately. She loves pretty clothes and dressing up for us and having her picture taken. She has many secrets, and she keeps them prettily.
Type: Jun Planning Classmate Takeru Daniel never speaks out loud and rarely ventures far from Mina, but seems to have been empowered by the appearance of Nettle. She's smaller then he is and he wasnt sure that was possible.
Type: Lovely House Shin Cho We don't know the whole story. One day, not so long ago, we found him sitting on the kitchen table, eating our fruit. He introduced himself to us as Damien and explained that Mina let him in and that she had something of his. It seemed to us that they were playing some sort of game, and over time we've been able to discern only small pieces of the story. We do know that for a while before Damien appeared, Mina became very interested in the old wall of the garden. It also seems that he is something other than human... When he first appeared, his ears were long and pointed and lately they seem much smaller and more normal. It's funny, because he always looks different to us, though we never know exactly why. We do know that he is quite charming. He is often quiet, though always seems busy. Mina is only occasionally interested in his presence, and sometimes he disappears for days at a time. Most often, Damien seems quite happy to be in our company. Were not sure what will happen if he ever gets back what Mina stole...
Type: Lovely House Shin B Pia followed Damien. She told us that immediately. She's just like he is, though her pointed ears never seem to completely recede, particularly after spending the afternoon in the garden, which she often does. She's very sweet and talks to us about everything and nothing. She's fascinated by the television and loves photographs and music. More than anything, she loves animals and tends our tortoises with particular tenderness. Mina usually ignores her, though Pia is the only other person we've ever seen Daniel whisper to. Damien seems to be very used to her presence and we often find them close to each other when they sleep, and have occasionally heard them speak in a beautiful and strange language. There is an innocence about her which can be quite disarming, but she is simply too sweet to not love.
Type: Cerberus Project Vampire Soo head, Volks Dollfie Dream body Yuko has intentions which are only known to her. She came to us, told us that this was where she belonged and that she was not leaving. We were immediately quite taken with her, but I guess we didntt have a choice about that, either. She's dangerously beautiful and uses that to her every advantage. She brings out a very devious side of Damien and toys with him often. She and Mina are able to quickly charm each other, but friendship has turned to venom more than once. Yuko's favorite game involves threatening to eat Daniel. She hates Pia. It's not a violent or active hate, it seems more the result of being opposite to the core. They prefer not to interact over anything else. She's a wealth of macabre bits of knowledge, like the fastest way to kill a cat or how to find the freshest graves. She has been known to sleep in a small coffin and her ears and teeth are suspiciously pointy, but I'm not asking any questions...
Type: Volks Cyndy I Lenore is mute. Though we are still learning about her, she has already taken on a silently authoritative role and acts like an older sister to the others. She is especially liked by the little ones, as she often tends Rowan, and is even tolerated by Nettle. She has an intense gaze and incredible grace which seems to have come from a life of privilege. Though she does not use words, no one has trouble understanding her and it seems a simple matter of allowing others to hear her thoughts.
Type: Luts Kid Delf head 1006, Luts girl body Our best guess is that Rowan is an imp. Her ears are pointed, but they are not like Damien's or Pia's nor are they like Yuko's. She is young and generally not interested in anything beyond her octopus and lizard friends. (Her rapport with nature seems limited to creepy crawly things.) She likes to be dirty and plays naughty tricks on whoever is around. She'll occasionally let Lenore wash her hands or tie her hair back, but I suspect that may only be because Lenore doesn't bother to reprimand her. Though she'll submit to being dressed, she'd prefer to be naked and she absolutely refuses to wear shoes. She's prefectly crude and reluctantly adorable.
Type: Elfdoll Catsy Nettle is a just a tiny grumpy cat.
Type: Narindoll Narae (white skin) Lilly is a ghost. She has probably been here all along, but has only recently made herself known to us. She is small and beautiful and does not interfere much. She is often only seen in photos. We dont know who she is or was, Pia told us her name is Lilly and nothing more. Our house is very old and we've begun to sort through its history in search of a mysterious young girl...
Type: Unoa Quluts Sist Tallulah is a friendly girl. Sometimes a bit too friendly. She's also very comfortable with herself and her tiny body. It's difficult to get much conversation from her because she usually begins to undress if she senses she's being watched for more than a minute or two. She brushes her hair a lot and has a massive collection of stockings. As a matter of fact, when she arrived on our doorstep, she had with her a tiny suitcase full of stockings and nothing else. That might very well be all you need to know about Tallulah.
Type: Volks Sei Tenshi (one of a kind from the LA Volks opening) Yuko found something outside of our window one cold winter day. It was on the third floor, in an abandoned pigeon nest and looked to her to be an easy meal. Luckily, Pia happened by and stopped her mid-strike. Seeing immediately that the small pink body had tiny wings, Pia kept Yuko away by convincing her that she had found an angel and that they aren't actually filled with blood, just marshmallow fluff. The little angel is in a deep sleep from which she only rouses to blink once or twice. She has therefore told us nothing about herself or where she came from, but Pia keeps her safe, ties ribbons in her hair and named her Pigeon.
Type: Latidoll Yellow Miel We (that is, Kat and Mat) have a four-year old son named Gideon. Like most parents, we also have a box filled with pictures and cards and random bits marking kiddie milestones. The last time I opened that box to add a hand-outline turkey, something was moving inside. Suspecting a mouse, I cautiously uncovered the wiggling lump and found Dig. He seems to have sprouted from a tuft of Gideon's first haircut hair. He is therefore insanely cute and teeny and is usually found rummaging under the couch for M&M's or Cheetos.
Type: Domadoll Kkotmu Ramona is 8 and will not smile because she's missing her front teeth. She says she lost them in a fight, but I sort of doubt it. She has a turtle named Jeffrey. She keeps carrots in one pocket for him and cigarettes in another for her, but I don't think she really smokes either. Wherever she comes from, its obvious Ramona had to be tough. She keeps it up here, but seems content to stay so long as there's enough food to stash in her other pockets.
Type: Musedoll Ciel head, Notdoll girl body I know nothing about this pale beauty aside from that fact that we found her sleeping in a small trunk in a local antique shop. The owner was just as surprised to find her as we were, so when we offered to buy the trunk, he thought we should take her too. She hasn't been here long, but seems to have somehow become friends with Mina. Also, though she does it quietly, we have realized that every night she sneaks back into her trunk to fall asleep.
Type: Soom Namu (white skin) Judge is the puppet master. He has created and performed in the Judgment Theater of Wonders all over the world. His marionettes are renowned for their beauty and for the way his touch brings them instantly to life. The stories they tell are almost always cautionary tales of love lost and the folly of youth. He is cruel and prone to anger. He lives as a recluse and avoids even his most devout fans. With his handiwork, however, he seems to be a different man. It is said he has made marionettes as large as himself and possesses the skill to make even them come to life. He is here looking for something.
Type: DollsTown Soph Despite herself, Morrow is a devourer souls.
Type: Latidoll Blue Yern Alice seems to have stepped back through the wrong looking glass... specifically, the one leading to our sitting room.
Type: Volks Sei Tenshi (one of a kind from the NYC Volks 2007 Dolpa) The only reasonable explanation I can come up with is that Paloma was on a rescue mission. She seemed happy to have found Pigeon and gave Pia lots of kisses for keeping her safe. But she wasn't here very long before she decided she was sleepy too and settled down with Pigeon and she hasn't woken since. Pia is thrilled.
Type: Volks SD Masha Octavia is Judge's younger sister. He was estranged from his family from a very early age, and was unaware of his parents' death before Octavia's arrival on our doorstep. She led a pampered life of privilege and was left destitute when her family and their home was lost to a fire. With no one to turn to, she set out to find her brother. He was hesitant to let her stay, but agreed when she offered to act as his assistant and help with his show. She is afraid of her brother's temper and they do not talk much, but she has become fascinated by his art and respects his privacy. She does her job well and seems to genuinely love the marionettes and their worlds. It is obvious she did not see much beyond her childhood home, as she is often bewildered by social interactions, but she is resolute to make her own life and seems a bit less delicate every day.
Type: Orientdoll Vampire Ui (white skin) Balthazar belongs to Yuko. I don't know if she made him or found him, or even if she likes him or just keeps him handy in case she needs a snack.
Type: Tinybear Bracken (white skin) Our house is close to 200 years old. In those years, it has developed all of the quirks of old houses -- a slightly crooked wall here and a gap in the floorboards there. One day, our cat was *quite* interested in just such a gap and Mat investigated with a flashlight. Just inside the hole, he found luggage. Specifically, he found two miniscule suitcases filled with impossibly tiny clothes. Worried that we would not find the owners before the cat, we moved Kat's childhood dollhouse just in front of the hole and set the luggage down inside, hoping that was enough of an invitation. The very next night, we noticed a bit of movement in the house and, approaching cautiously, spied tiny white figures in the windows. We knocked gently and thus we had the pleasure of meeting Sebastian and Isadora. We have offered them use of the house, which they are very grateful for, and we have since moved it up off the floor. (Though the cat is no longer interested in them, since Sebastian once confronted her with the seam ripper he keeps by the bed.)
Type: Tinybear Moona (white skin) Isadora is inspiring in her tiny homemaking. She likes to sew new dresses for herself with scraps from my sewing and she makes beautiful meals in miniature with bits of things she finds in the kitchen. She ties a new ribbon in her tiny white curls every day and sings beautiful songs of love to Sebastian. She is still easily frightened by us, since she is used to hiding from humans, but she will occasionally tell me stories of her travels with Sebastian through the old homes in the city.
